Documents Required

  1. Application

    1.1 A completed and signed Schengen visa application form

  2. Travel Documents

    2.1 A passport or other travel document.

    2.2 A copy of all pages of the passport.

    Please note:

    • Your passport or travel document must be valid for at least 3 months from the date on which you leave the Schengen area.

    • Your passport or travel document must have at least 2 empty visa pages.

    • Your passport or travel document cannot have been issued more than 10 years ago.

  3. Evidence of Legal Residence

    3.1 Non-Turkish nationals: Proof of residence in Turkey, valid three months beyond the intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States.

  4. Photo

    4.1 A passport photo that meets Dutch passport requirements. This photo cannot have been taken more than 6 months ago and must bear a clear resemblance. See: photo guidelines

  5. Proof of Travel

    Note: Make travel reservations that can be canceled in case your visa request is refused.

    5.1 Travel arrangements: flight reservations, other proof of intended means of transport, or proof of travel itinerary.

    5.2 Complete extract of the civil registry (Tam Tekmil Vukuatlı Nüfus Kayıt Örneği).

    5.3 Proof of accommodation: evidence of hotel booking or other proof of accommodation.

    5.4 Proof of means of subsistence:

    • Bank account statement showing movements over the last three months, proving the source of regular income.

    • Proof of regular income such as salary slips of the last three months.

    • Pensioner booklet, if relevant.5.5 Documents to be presented by specific categories of applicants:

    • Employees: Letter from employer and/or approval for leave containing the following information:

      • Indication of the consulate that the document is addressed to.

      • The employee’s name and passport number.

      • Date of start of employment and position.

      • Length of leave and whether it is paid or unpaid leave, except when traveling for professional reasons.

      • Employer’s contact details.

      • Name and position of the person signing the letter.

      • SGK (social security) statement of employment (Sigortalı İşe Giriş Bildirgesi) and SGK registration and service document (SGK tescil ve hizmet dökümü) with a readable QR code.

    • Farmers: Farmer certificate issued by a chamber of agriculture.

    • Company Owners:

      • Company registration in the chamber of commerce and a copy of the bulletin of the trade register.

      • Statement of taxes payment.

      • Company activity certificate (Faaliyet Belgesi).

    • Students (Higher Education): Student certificate issued by the Council of Higher Education in Turkey (YÖK) with a readable QR code.

    • Other Students or Pupils: Student certificate.

    • Minors: Minor under the age of 18 years traveling alone or with one parent or legal guardian only:

      • Written consent (approved by a public notary) by the non-traveling parent(s)/legal guardian(s) or proof (approved by a public notary) of sole custody of the traveling parent/legal guardian.

  6. Proof of Health Insurance

    6.1 The insurance policy has been taken out in your name.

    6.2 Your insurance is valid throughout the Schengen area and for the duration of your stay.

    6.3 At least €30,000 of medical costs are reimbursed, including hospital care, emergency treatment, and repatriation (including in the event of death). If your insurer will not provide an official document of this nature, you should take out travel insurance with appropriate medical coverage for this trip with one that does.

  7. Visa

    7.1 A visa, residence permit, or passport that gives entry to your final destination after your visit to the Schengen area.

Step-by-Step Guide to the Application Process

  • Identify visa type (Choose the right visa for your trip).

  • Begin your application (Get started with your visa application).

    • Complete the online application form, print it and sign it. Also, please mention your name along with surname of father and spouse, if applicable.

  • Prepare Documents: Ensure all required documents are ready and properly organized.

  • Book an Appointment: After booking your appointment, you will receive an e-mail confirming your appointment, with a confirmation letter attached.

    • If you apply as a family or other kind of group, please mention you are a member of a group. It is necessary to book an individual appointment for each member of a group.

  • Submit Application: Submit your visa application with all the required documents at the scheduled time of your appointment. Pay the VFS service fee and the visa fee(s), if applicable.

    • Please note: your biometrics (fingerprints and a digital live photograph) will be collected during the appointment.

  • Track your application (Stay informed about the progress of your application).

  • Collect your passport: After a decision on your visa application has been made, you can pick up your passport from the Visa Application Centre or have your passport returned to you by courier (if offered by the Visa Application Centre) for an additional fee.

When collecting your passport yourself, please bring:

  • your valid ID;

  • the receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre.

When sending someone else to collect them, please bring:

  • a copy of your valid ID;

  • the valid ID of the person collecting for you;

  • the receipt issued to you by the Visa Application Centre.

Processing Time

The earliest you can apply for your visa is 6 months before you intend to travel. In most cases, the processing time is 15 calendar days. After applying for your visa, you will not be able to take home your passport while your visa application is being processed.

In some cases the processing time for your visa application may exceed 15 calendar days. Reasons why your visa application may take longer include:

  • Your application is impacted by high volume.

  • Your application requires further consideration.

  • You need to provide additional documents.
