Who can apply from Ireland?
Applicant must at least meet the following criteria in order to be eligible to submit a Schengen visa application:
Hold a passport/travel document valid for at least three months after their exit from the Schengen region.
Hold an Irish residence permit valid for at least three months after their exit from the Schengen region. In case applicant holds a short stay visa for the Republic of Ireland, a C type visa (see example here), then applicant needs to apply for a Schengen visa from his/her residence country; however applicants may apply at any Danish mission outside their residence country if they have a valid reason for not having applied in their residence country, e.g. no Danish mission or a new urgent situation has arisen during their stay in the Republic of Ireland (e.g. new business trip, death or serious illness of a relative in Denmark/Iceland/Norway/Sweden - please note that written confirmation from the doctor or hospital in Denmark/Iceland/Norway/Sweden is required).

⚠️ Please print out this Checklist and prepare the required documents accordingly, also prepare an additional copy of your Passport ID page for Passport Collection. Documents mentioned in the relevant check list must be brought to VFS, or their application may either be rejected or a decision significantly delayed.
Correctly signed application form – printed and signed ApplyVisa cover letter. Signature must match the one in your passport
Signed current passport (+ copy of all pages) – issued within the last 10 years, have two blank pages and be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended stay in the Schengen area
If available, previous passport – all previous Schengen visas and stamps must be provided Irish residence card (Original IRP card must be shown) – valid for 1 months beyond your intended stay in the Schengen area
Proof of arrival in Ireland (date you came to live in Ireland – e.g. D-sticker with entry stamp)
Travel and medical insurance – covering the requested travel dates and be valid for the entire Schengen area. Must cover emergency medical expenses, hospitalisation and repatriation (incl. in event of death) for the minimum sum of €30.000
Proof of sufficient funds for the stay – original Irish bank statements showing the balance and your full name and address, covering the last 3 calendar months – approx. €45-65 per day
If sponsored by spouse: marriage certificate + sponsorship letter + spouse’s bank statements
Travel plan:
an itinerary showing your planned day-to-day activities in Denmark
proof of accommodation or sufficient means to cover such costs
reserved return tickets or sufficient means to cover such costs
If visiting several Schengen countries, include intra-Schengen flight/train/bus/car itinerary.
We recommend that you do not buy any tickets before your visa has been approved.
Evidence of occupation – on letterhead, signed, and less than 1-month old Employment: Letter from employer incl. salary and position of applicant and 3 months’ payslips Self-employed: Accountant letter incl. annual salary drawn and company’s registration certificate with a recent business printout available from the Companies Registration Office Student: Letter of enrolment/confirmation of student status Unemployed: Permission from the local welfare office for the intended trip (if longer than 2 weeks) and proof of weekly/monthly social welfare payments
If your application is received at the Embassy less than 15 calendar days before your intended travel date, the Embassy can deem your application inadmissible. If so, the Embassy will NOT process your visa application and your passport and documents will be returned to you and the visa fee refunded

Prepare Documents: Ensure all required documents are ready and properly organized.
Book an Appointment:
Once you’ve booked your appointment, you’ll receive an appointment confirmation email along with the letter of appointment.
If you are part of a family or group, you’ll have to book individual appointments for each member of the family or group.
Pay your fees:
Once you have filled your application online and paid the visa fee, please print the cover letter and payment fee receipt. This will be required for submitting your application at the Visa Application Centre.
Please note that besides the visa fee there is a service fee that you will need to pay, when you hand in your application at the Visa Application Centre.
Submit Application: Submit your visa application with all the required documents at the scheduled time of your appointment.
Track your application (Stay informed about the progress of your application). You will receive an email update when your decision has been returned to the Visa Application Centre.
Collect your passport: After a visa application decision has been made, you can pick up your passport from the Visa Application Centre.
Processing Time
Note that the decision for the Schengen Visa applications submitted in the Denmark Visa application centre in Dublin is made by the Royal Danish Embassy in London.
Due to increase in travel and request for visas the processing time is taking around 45 days. Kindly arrange your travel plans accordingly.
Every applicant can only submit his/her Schengen visa application up to 3 months before the intended travel date to the Schengen Area.
Please note the application processing time is prolonged, the average processing time is now 30 calendar days.
