Who can apply from Ireland?

Applicant must at least meet the following criteria in order to be eligible to submit a Schengen visa application:

  1. holding a valid passport/travel document

  2. holding a valid Ireland residence permit.

Mandatory Documents Required for All Visa Categories

  1. Visa Application Form Visa application, duly filled out in English and signed by the applicant (for minors: signed by parents or legal guardian) on site, upon application with blue ink pen.

  2. Two recent photographs Photo must be: 35 mm wide, 45 mm high, photo must be well contrasted person, must look straight into the camera, head must be straight, not tilted, mouth closed.

  3. Valid Passport Valid passport (plus one photocopy of biometric page) At least two empty visa pages, the passport must be valid for at least 90 days after requested trip and must be duly signed.

  4. Previous Visa Copies of previous visas issued in the last 3 years from any other Schengen country (if applicable) and of entry-exit stamps on the opposite page of the visas. If Visas are in old passports: copy of the biometric page of the old passport and copies of relevant visas and of entry-exit stamps on the opposite page of the visas.

  5. Irish Residence Permit Irish Residence Permit (plus one photocopy of back and front) Irish Residence permit, endorsed in the passport or issued as a Biometrics card, must be valid for more than 1 months beyond the return date of the trip to the Schengen Area; C type Irish visitor visa is not acceptable. The physical card needs to be presented.

  6. Air Reservation Round Trip transports ticket booking Proof of reserved return ticket to Ireland, or proof of onward travel (if not returning to Ireland), such as authorisation of entry into the country of destination, confirmed overseas ticket, proof of sufficient means to cover such costs. Tickets must show airports of departure and destination and the applicants name. The ticket must show name of applicant as per passport.

  4. Book an Appointment:

  • After booking your appointment, you will receive an e-mail confirming your appointment, with a confirmation letter attached.

  • If you are part of a family or group, you’ll have to book individual appointments for each member of the family or group.

  3. Track your application (Stay informed about the progress of your application). You will receive an email update when your decision has been returned to the Visa Application Centre. If you can’t access email easily, or would like more detailed tracking information, you may also be able to get updates by SMS sent directly to your phone. Check whether this service is available at the Visa Application Centre you are visiting.

  4. You can also track your visa application status online. Use the Reference Number present on the invoice/receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre along with your last name to access this service.

  5. Collect your passport: After a visa application decision has been made, you can pick up your passport from the Visa Application Centre or have your passport returned to you by courier for an additional fee.

  • Collecting your passport in person: bring the receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre and a form of Government identification. If permitted you may be able to send a representative to collect your passport; they will need to present a letter of authorization signed by you, bring the receipt issued to you by the Visa Application Centre and their Government identification.

Processing Time

The minimum processing time of a visa application is 15 calendar days and this begins when the applications is received at the Hungarian Consulate in London. If the processing time is not met, you may be asked to rearrange your trip.

Applications submitted in VFS Dublin office, the Consulate receives the application on the next working day.
