Who Can Apply from the UK?

Customer must at least meet the following criteria in order to be eligible to submit a Schengen visa application:

  1. holding a valid passport/travel document.

  2. holding a valid UK residence permit. In case the customer holds a short stay visa for the UK, a C type visa (see example here), then the customer needs to apply for a Schengen visa from his/her residence country; however customers may apply at any Danish mission outside their residence country if they have a valid reason for not having applied in their residence country, e.g. no Danish mission or a new urgent situation has arisen during their stay in the UK (e.g. new business trip, death or serious illness of a relative in Denmark - please note that written confirmation from the doctor or hospital in Denmark is required).

  3. applying for a short stay visa: Tourist/Visitor Family & Friends/Conference (including Minors), Business or EEA/EU family member

Documents Required

Required documents provided when handing in your application:

  1. Correctly signed application form – printed and signed ApplyVisa cover letter. Signature must match the one in your passport.

  2. Signed current passport (+ copy of all pages) – issued within the last 10 years, have two blank pages and be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended stay in the Schengen area.

  3. If available, previous passport – all previous Schengen visas and stamps must be provided.

  4. Proof of UK residency (e.g. Immigration Share Code) – residency must be valid for 1 month beyond your intended stay in the Schengen area.

  5. Proof of UK arrival (date when you came to live in the UK – e.g. UK D-sticker with entry stamp).

  6. Travel and medical insurance – covering the requested travel dates and valid for the entire Schengen area. Must cover emergency medical expenses, hospitalisation and repatriation (incl. in event of death) for the minimum sum of €30.000.

  7. Proof of sufficient funds for the stay – original UK bank account statements showing the balance and your full name, covering the last 3 calendar months – approx. £40-60 per day

    1. If sponsored by spouse: marriage certificate + sponsorship letter + spouse’s bank statements.

  8. Travel plan:

    1. an itinerary showing your planned day-to-day activities in Denmark

    2. proof of accommodation or sufficient means to cover such costs

    3. reserved return tickets or sufficient means to cover such costs.

  • If visiting several Schengen countries, include intra-Schengen flight/train/bus/car itinerary.

  • We recommend that you do not buy any tickets before you know if your visa has been approved.

  1. Evidence of occupation – on letterhead, signed, and less than 1 month old.

    1. Employment: Letter from employer incl. salary and position of applicant and 3 months’ payslips

    2. Self-employed: Accountant letter incl. annual salary drawn and self-assessment form edited by revenue and customs authorities

    3. Student: Letter of enrolment/confirmation of student status.

If your application is received at the Embassy less than 15 calendar days before your intended travel date, the Embassy may deem your application inadmissible. If so, the Embassy will NOT process your visa application and your passport and documents will be returned to you and the visa fee refunded.

Please print out this checklist and prepare the required documents accordingly, also prepare an additional copy of your Passport ID page for Passport Collection.

In addition to the documents from the checklist, all customers have to provide the below:

  • A colour copy of their British resident permit.

  • If submitting any birth or marriage certificate, kindly provide both a colour copy and the original certificate/s. The original certificate/s will be returned to you once verified.

  • You also will need to submit all of your previous passports for the application.
