Step-by-Step Guide to the Application Process

  • Identify visa type (Choose the right visa for your trip).

  • Begin your application (Get started with your visa application).

    • Once you are ready to apply, go to the Royal Norwegian Embassy website for guidelines about the application process and to register your application online. You may also access the online application Portal directly here.

  • Prepare Documents: Ensure all required documents are ready and properly organized.

  • Book an Appointment: Schedule your appointment for submitting the application and biometrics. If you are part of a family or group, you’ll have to book individual appointments for each member of the family or group.

  • Submit Application: Attend the appointment at the visa center, submit your documents, and provide biometrics.

  • Pay the Fees: Visa application fees can vary based on visa type and processing times.

  • Track your application (Stay informed about the progress of your application)

  • Collect your passport: After a decision has been made, you can pick up your documents from the Visa Application Centre or have your documents returned to you by courier for an additional fee.

Processing Time

Apply well in advance of your travel, we recommend that you apply at least 4 weeks prior to departure. Please allow additional days for processing if you are applying in our satellite centre in Edinburgh

The minimum processing time of a visa application is 15 days from the day it is received at the Norway Embassy in London, if you're applying in London, it takes 1 working day for the transfer. But if you're applying in Manchester or Edinburgh, it will take an extra 3 working days to reach the Embassy.

If applying with less than 15 days, your application will be under high risk for receiving a rejection from the Embassy because the application time does not pertain to the 15-day processing rule, if there is no justified emergency. Please note that the general processing time is 15 days, and that there is additional courier time as well (2-3 days each way). If you have a justified emergency, you should provide documentation of this.
